Oh, the folks over at Huffington Post were having a party with it!

Note to self: never do any goofy mugging when cameras are about.

I wonder what the context of that photo could possibly be?

It was at the end of the debate last night, when both candidates were leaving the stage. Obama walked stage-right, but McCain seemed to be confused as which way to go. He did a little right-left-right-left thing, before he was shown which way to go. I saw this on TV last night and I thought "Now that's not going to look good in the media tomorrow".

The thing that makes the picture particularly odd is the angle this is taken from -- the far-right edge of the stage; the foreshortening makes it look as though McCain is trying to grab Obama's ass, but they're actually about 15 feet apart.

I thought the odd thing was the tongue.

About his confusion--there is a news conference he gave some years ago up on You tube now, in which he is trying to say that we are justified in attacking 'Iraq' because they house al-qaeda training camps. As if that wasn't bad enough, what he actually says is 'Iran', and his aid has to stop him and make him change it to 'Iraq'. Fortunate he didn't say 'Pakistan' by mistake.

Or was Arthur Clarke right?

Chrikey, I haven't thought of that book in a long time. I wonder when the movie is coming?

"I wonder when the movie is coming?"

*sigh*

I guess there always has to be a movie, doesn't there? Perhaps they can make a double-feature with "The Call of Cthulu", and have Michael Bay direct them both. And then I can just pour lye in my eyes.

Have you seen "Incubus" from 1965? I actually rather like it.

Isn't it just?! I thought I was the only one who hadn't seen it before, but I'm glad that others can experience it's stop-motion goodness for the first time too.

By the way -- I can't find that message you posted about getting together and doing something fun. We're definitely up for it! Have you and J. toured the Neptune Society Columbarium? It's something we've wanted to do for years but never gotten around to. If you already have, then perhaps exploring the east side of Telegraph Hill (the Filbert Steps, etc.), or some other outing would suit you. Let us know where you'd be interested in visiting, and what time of the week works best for you.

The Telegraph Hill exploration sounds lovely. I've been inordinately stressed out at work - it opens up a barrage of thoughts, "Why do I work so hard when it sometimes makes me so miserable?" - so October has been a tough month for me. I don't think I have your telephone number, but I do have your e-mail.

I just picked up the current BAM/PFA catalog, and I'm really curious about this:

That is going to be an all-time classic photo. Endless caption possibilities.

I loved the video. The visuals were amazing, but I thought the sounds were really great too.
